MicroWave - Audio Editor App Reviews

Slow at times but decent overall.
This is a good, old fashioned audio record app with some really nice features. Many of the effects are very useful, rather than your average “toy set” of tools. I use this regularly for making announcement recordings, etc. Love that I can export to a variety of different formats. I have found it a be a dicey with Sierra, crashing on occasion, however, without data loss so far. Never happened under any previous operating system where this app is solid as a rock.
Ehm, in the welcome window it says: "Channels: 32 Bit" and "Bit Depth: Mono" I think you mixed something up there. :D Its a great tool, but strangely you cant record without selecting a file first. Cancelling the recording will leave an empty/invalid file, thats just stupid. And pleaaaase add an option to never display the welcome window. Its really completely pointless/distracting for non-noobs, the menu world be suffice. I dont even want to know what happens when you use the OS X Resume function, will it throw a window in your face just because it happend to run before restarting?
Works very Well
Tried out a few apps, this does everything and more that I need for voice overs and podcasts
I use this ‘easy to use’ audio editor for editing my podcasts and also to combine some sections. Works very well and easy to ‘expand out’ the audio signal sine wave for precision edtiing. Very pleased with this app!
at last, an incredible simple audio mixer that doesnt take anytime to learn
Feature packed, awesome, doesnt require a phonebook to learn it. Well thought out!
For what it is, it works great. Looks good doing it, also. My only niggle is that it forces me to save a new file every time I want to open an existing file. Then, when Im done editing, I have to go back and delete the file it created. Sometimes I want to just open a file and export to a different format. The extra file created is just added steps at that point.
Smooth, fast and lightweight audio editor. I found myself using it a lot when I just dont need the full power of Soundtrack Pro. Price is pretty good too.
I have ecorded 4 soundbites and started running into "not reponding" state. I had to force it to terminate. I have not seen an app this bad for a very long time. i want my money back! JP
this is a great little app that does its job really well… for most editing and recording tasks, i use pro tools - but if i need something done quickly and easily and pro tools isnt open, i use this… its simple, fast, elegant and right to the point. I also recommended this app to a few tech-phobe colleagues for home voiceover recordings. Five stars.
I wanted to open an mp3 file and snip off some portion of it. Simple, right? No. Quicktime should have been able to do it, but it is buggy and you cannot drag the left handle of the trim tool (Apple doesnt care about real computers any more). I then stepped up to microwave. I discovered over 10 minutes that I had to import the file into Microwaves own format, drag across a section to trim, not have any fine control over the edges of the trim region (like drag the edges after forming the region), and then during the export there is no straightforward way to export to the same format as the original - it needs to be re-compressed. Please, cant we have a tool that can simply cut an audio file in two, without messing with the compression format?
This a modern wave editor with a super smooth UI and many features. The effects are plenty and useful. You simply dont need more for most audio editing tasks. Though I wish it had support for 3rd party Audio Units but the developers said they cant get that feature past the sandbox restrictions :(
This little app does pretty much all the basic sound editing tasks you could want -- and the unlimited levels of undo allow for easy expirimention. Great, prompt support from the developers, too.
I was trying to create a 1 hour file. Just a quick mix of songs for a dance class. FORGET IT !!! The person that created this didn’t think simple action though. The is no way to paste one file to another with the options offered. When you paste file 2 onto file 1 with the Mix option it will only paste it the end of file 1. So I added silence in order to fix that issue. IT TOOK 10 MINUTES TO ADD SILENCE !!! IT TOOK 15 MINUTES TO LOAD A 20 MINUTE FILE !!! I want my twenty bucks back !!!
I downloade this app yesterday. So far it is totally useless and a waste of money. Great editing tools but a very awkward interface. It crashes when trying to save or export and will not export or save to mp3 or any other format that itunes will play. Have attempted to contact support and have received no response. Hopefully I can get a refund.
I think this is an excellent program for my uses. I want to make voice notes as commentaries on educational slide presentations, for later study in the car or via my smart phone. The product does this very well. I can down-convert the audio clips to lower quality in order to make the files much smaller while still keeping very good voice quality for my purposes. Clipping out pauses, coughs or other spurious material is easy (but could be easier and more efficient with some tweaking of the software). One minor flaw for my purposes is that I can’t pause the recording when I’m looking at a window of another running program (Powerpoint or Adobe PDF). So, if I’m scanning slides I cannot concurrently start and stop the recording. I don’t know if that can even be done due to practical aspects of OS limitations; so, this isn’t really a criticism of the MicroWave software. Just a desirable feature that isn’t there and forms a limitation. All told, I’m quite happy with the software and will use it a lot.
